Group Therapy

There is power in community – coming together with others working through the same issues and supporting each other along the way – that is Group Yoga Therapy

Offered via Zoom and in-person, Group Yoga Therapy can be an affordable and enriching option for all.

Group Yoga Therapy shares a lot with 1:1 work:

  • Group Yoga Therapy participants meet 1:1 with me twice, for an intake before the group starts and for a goals review after the group ends.
  • Each group lasts for 8 weeks
  • There is a specific focus for each group

Where Group Yoga Therapy differs from 1:1 work:

  • Group Yoga Therapy is a shared experience. While I will provide an outline and structure, each iteration of a group is different as it’s shaped by the participants.
  • Participants gain support from the other attendees

Yoga Therapy for Anxiety, October/November 2024

Intended Population:
People living with anxiety (clinical or situational)

Duration:
8 weeks

Attendance at ALL 8 MEETINGS is expected as we’ll build from week to week.

Description:
Using the 8-limbed path of Raja Yoga, explore and experience a blend of self-reflection, discussion, poses, breath work, and meditation all designed to help you manage anxiety.

This is an active series so please have the following items on hand each week:

  • Yoga mat (or safe surface for yoga poses)
  • water
  • notebook, pen/pencil
  • blanket, blocks (or something that can be used as a block/support for some of the poses), and a strap (or belt or sturdy scarf)
  • uninterrupted time/space (I know this is a challenge with kids – let me know if you need support in figuring this bit out)
  • headphones (to maintain the confidentiality of group discussions – you will not need to wear them during our asana practice)

Group Therapy Details – (6-8 weeks in length, Price varies)

  • Group Therapy is offered in topic-specific multi-week sessions. Examples include: Yoga Therapy for Anxiety, Yoga Therapy for Disordered Eating, Yoga Therapy for Grief. This is not an all-inclusive list.
  • The duration of the Group will be communicated at the outset. It is expected that everyone who enrolls intends to complete the full multi-week session.
  • Confidentiality is mandatory between group participants.
  • Each attendee will do a 30-minute 1:1 intake session with me where PIES (Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Spiritual) Goals and Expected Outcomes will be set. These will be reviewed at a 1:1 follow-up session. 
  • In addition to the work we do together in-session, personal practice suggestions will be offered between all sessions to facilitate forward progress.
  • Recorded practices, reading material, and other resources specific to your goals will be shared via online documents. All resources shared will be accessible during and after working together.
